2 What is the AMRC? A world leading cluster of industry-focused manufacturing R&D centres and supporting facilities. Developing new means, methods, tools and techniques to advance manufacturing technology.

3 High Value Manufacturing Catapult
The High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult is the catalyst for the future growth and success of manufacturing in the UK. Established and overseen by the Technology Strategy Board, with over £200 million of government investment. The AMRC with Boeing & Nuclear AMRC are 2 of the 7 centres within the HVM Catapult.

6 The AMRC with Boeing Established in 2001 as a collaboration between Boeing & University of Sheffield. Recognised and respected as a global centre of excellence, and a model for research centres worldwide.

7 Factory 2050 The AMRC launched its cutting edge Factory 2050 advanced manufacturing research facility in November Our revolutionary, glass-walled “reconfigurable factory” is at the heart of the University of Sheffield’s new advanced manufacturing campus on Sheffield Business Park. Factory 2050 is home to our Integrated Manufacturing Group (IMG), which is installing the cutting edge manufacturing and assembly technologies, advanced robotics, flexible automation, next generation man-machine interfaces and new programming and training tools that will drive its research.

8 Factory 2050 Factory 2050’s landmark, the glass-clad rotunda houses reconfigurable, data driven assembly technologies whilst its long, rectangular extension accommodates any commercially sensitive or larger footprint projects. Initial projects include a programme to take aerospace manufacturing technology into the construction industry, explore future digital factory technologies for building commercial aeroplanes and investigate digitally assisted assembly technologies which could help to fill a looming skills gap in the aerospace sector.

Research hub at heart of Advanced Manufacturing Park. 400+ researchers, technicians and support staff. Around 80 member companies – from global giants to local SMEs. Over £200 million investment brought to former coalfield. Part of Rolls-Royce & Boeing global research networks.

10 Working with Businesses
We help manufacturing businesses become more competitive through the application of new techniques, technologies and processes. Member companies pay an annual fee for access to shared resources and dedicated R&D. Other companies can pay for directed R&D or take part in collaborative projects.

12 AMRC Membership Model Run by its members for the benefit of all.
Membership open to any company that works in complementary are or wishes to support our research programmes, subject to approval. You don’t have to be a member to conduct projects with the AMRC.
