It’s Fun to have Fun but you have to know HOW!!
We want 3rd grade to be as exciting as possible, but we have to be safe and responsible first. Keep in mind RRS Dr. Seuss

Big Kid Now….. Students: - Fill out and return their planners daily.
- In charge of managing their behavior - Pack their own bags - Collect their Friday work - Complete homework on their own, and turn it in on time Self-managers. Also remember, that students should be focused on managing their own behavior and not on the behavior of others. Responsibility!!

Taught in all areas Pg. 4 in Handbook Please review this in the handbook with your student. This will be essential to earning Panda Pride awards which we will talk about later.

RRS -Respect, Responsibiltiy, Safety HOMEWORK Students must turn in their homework!!!! Positive Attitude Try your best Have a GROWTH Mindset Panda Pride Awards are based first on Effort and Citizenship, higher levels are gained through academics The fist qualification for Panda Pride is effort and citizenship. An academically advanced student who is disruptive in class may not qualify for a reward. They must remain a positive member of the 3rd grade community. specials recess classroom

Planner a Great Tool for communication
Used to develop responsible behaviors/habits Sign daily to verify homework completion Students earn a blue ticket for your signature Use as a “messenger” to ask questions a Great Tool for communication Notes in the planner will be responded to that day.

Homework Reading Log 20 minutes a night - given Friday
-due on the following Friday Spelling Homework *words go home on Monday *study at home to prepare for test on Friday Math *Tear out a page a day Homework support will soon be available online Check Friday Folder for any “need to redo” work

Friday Folder All graded work/ flyers will go home every Friday
in student’s binder. Assignments that score below proficient can be corrected and turned in for correction points Proficient = 85% Students are responsible for collecting their work and bringing it home. I will not be packing their bags are putting work in folders for them. This is their responsibility. Please ask your student if work does not come home.

Blue tickets - used to move clip up and weekly raffle rewards. Paw Tickets - cash these in for special school wide or class room awards. Clip Chart System Phone call home for repeated or severe issues Class Dojo Send instant messages related to student behavior and classroom classroom news. You can communicate with me instantly at any time. Students earn points that will be used toward our Quarterly reward. (Flea market)

Reading Follow a Monday- Friday plan
New spelling words and vocabulary every Monday. If it is a shorter week students will still test on Friday. Spelling also follows this plan

Every Night -front and back side -complete sentences unless it asks to list *remember name* Friday to Friday Students can read any book!

Spelling New spelling words every Monday
Every student has a Spelling and Vocabulary City account where they can practice. Students should practice three days per week as a part of their homework grade. Will add vocab/spelling words from other content areas for practice Please see me if you do not have internet access.

Math Pearson Math Curriculum Online and in Print
focus on Common Core Online and in Print Homework = daily practice at home MATH FACT FLUENCY Practice addition, subtraction, and multiplication at home

Science Content: (3 units throughout the year) Physical science life science Earth Science Rocks, minerals, landforms - Garden of the Gods End of the year Geology project Social Studies Citizenship Communities Environment Building/growing our nation U.S. government Throughout the year Science and Social Studies are incorporated into our reading/ math

Birthdays Trans-fat laws in place
Parents can bring treats but must check in with the front office first O trans-fat -must be in a sealed container with labels -24 hours of advanced notice Or have birthday student bring a book for the class -wrap the book -birthday student gets to unwrap and present to the class - book does not need to be new ☺ -favorite story-
