3 Today you will… Learn about your graduation requirements
Receive your programming sheet Choose your academic classes for 10th grade Choose 8 electives Receive a deadline for the programming form

4 Graduation Requirements
4 English 4 Math-include Algebra I + Geometry 3 Science- must include Biology 3 Social Studies- must include World History, US History, Economics, + US Government 1 Practical or Performing Art 1 H.O.P.E. (Health + Physical Education) 1 Online Class 2 Foreign Language (College Bound Students) 8 Electives Reading courses will be scheduled as needed Students will be placed in appropriate academic courses to ensure academic success.

5 Let’s get started… Everyone should have a: - Programming Sheet
- Pen or Pencil If you do not have this, please raise your hand!! ** Make sure your name, student # and grade level are on the form!**

6 Schedule Change Policy
Schedules will not be changed for the following reasons: Student/parent does not like the teacher To have classes with friends Teacher is ‘too hard’ or ‘too easy’ Teacher does not like a student/parent The teacher gives too much work Student/parent change interest after ‘trying out’ a class Requesting a different lunch Schedule changes will be made automatically for the following reasons: Completion of a summer school course (Florida Virtual/HVS) Incomplete schedule (missing a class); including a missing core class Two courses in the same period in the same semester Failure of a prerequisite course Master schedule conflict; including master schedule changes due to enrollment Dual Enrollment (once approved) Senior needing a graduation requirement To balance classes so that overcrowding does not occur

7 English 1 Honors  English 2 Honors
If you are in English 1 Regular, you will write English 2 and circle Regular. English 1  English 2 If you are in English 1 Honors, you will write English 2 and circle Honors. English 1 Honors  English 2 Honors

8 Math If you are in Algebra 1 or Algebra 1a, you will write Geometry and circle Regular. Algebra 1  Geometry If you are in Liberal Arts Math, you will write Geometry and circle Regular. Liberal Arts Math  Geometry If you are in Geometry Regular or Honors with a C/D/F, you will write Math for College Readiness. Geometry (C,D,F)  Math for College Readiness If you are in Geometry Regular or honors with an A/B/C, you will write Algebra 2 and circle Regular or Honors. Geometry regular or Honors (A/B/C)  Algebra 2 Regular or Honors

9 Science If you are in Biology Regular, you will write Physical Science and circle Regular. Biology  Physical Science If you are in Biology Honors, you will write Chemistry and circle Regular or Honors. Biology Honors  Chemistry Regular or Honors Other Science course selections would need to be recommended by your Science teacher.

10 Social Studies If you are in U.S. Government Regular, you will write World History and circle Regular. U.S Government  World History If you are in U.S. Government Honors, you will write World History and circle Honors or AP. U.S. Government Honors  World History honors or AP World History If you are in AP Human Geography, you will write World History and circle AP. AP Human Geography  AP World History If you are not in a U.S. Government class, you will write World History and ask for the level recommendation from your English teacher.

11 Electives You must list 8 electives- please write neatly!!
Make sure you choose (2) semester electives- these classes are indicated with a *. Consider… Have you completed your practical/performing art? (A) Have you completed HOPE? Do you want to start a foreign language? Are you working towards being a program completer?

13 Important notes… This is YOUR opportunity to choose your classes for 10th grade!! Think carefully…we all know schedule changes are hard to come by. You must turn in the form with signatures from both your teachers and parents.

14 What’s next… Make sure that all blanks are filled in.
Sign your programming sheet. Get your teacher’s signature/ approval for core classes during the week of November 1-8. Get your parent’s signature. Turn in your completed programming sheet to your English teacher by November 8.
