2 English Reading & Writing (11th grade year) 1 MATH (Alg I, Geometry, Alg II) 1 SCIENCE (Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry) 1 HISTORY (World History I, World History II, US & VA History) 1 MORE IN ANY AREA Example: English Reading, English Writing, Algebra 1, Biology, World History I, and US History ADVANCED Diploma = TOTAL of 9 SOLs 2 in EACH core area ( MATH, SCIENCE, HISTORY, & ENGLISH)

6 Naviance Will be a resource tool used throughout your High School career, especially senior year Helps students to understand their unique strengths and interests through inventory tests/surveys A resource tool for investigating careers and colleges Naviance is a necessary component in the college application process A resume builder

How to access Naviance Step 1: Go to Freedom HS homepage Step 2: Select Our School  School Counseling  Naviance/Family Connection Step 3: At the top of the page select Click here for Freedom Family Connection to log in Username: Student ID Number Password: mmddyyyy

8 Click on the “About Me” Tab
At the bottom of the page click “Profile” Add your current address to your profile by clicking on the pencil Under Academic Information is where you will be able to view your GPA come February

10 Academic and Career Plan
Step 1: At the top of the Academic and Career Plan select a Career Cluster that interests you from the drop down list Step 2: Select a Career Pathway and then a Career Goal from the drop down lists Step 3: Select a Diploma Type and Post Secondary Goal Step 4: Select the core classes you are taking this year for 9th grade and be sure to type in your electives too Step 5: Select the core classes you PLAN to take your 10th grade year and type in two electives you would like to take Step 6: Be sure to add any extracurricular actives you are currently involved in this year. This may include, clubs, organizations and/or athletics. Step 7: At the very bottom type in your name as your signature **You are not locked into taking the courses you inputted for your 10th grade year. We will revisit this plan your junior year and make changes and updates**

11 IMPORTANT 9TH GRADE INFORMATION
WORK PERMITS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE AT 5 UNEXCUSED ABSENCES WILL RESULT IN AN ATTENDANCE CONTRACT… 10 UNEXCUSED AND/OR EXCUSED ABSENCES IN A CLASS WILL RESULT IN NO CREDIT STATUS Late buses are Tuesday and Wednesday SEE YOUR COUNSELOR OR TALK TO A TEACHER IF THERE IS SOMETHING YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND…!

12 Confidentiality If you tell me that someone is hurting you or that you intend to hurt yourself or someone else or that you are involved in something illegal, I must tell someone. This includes sexual activity, suicide, pregnancy, abortion, communicable disease, and alcohol or drug abuse.
