2 Scheduling Process All students should have received a registration card. All students will return their registration cards by March 16th. A utility bill must be attached to the registration cards of students living in the Cullman City School’s district. Schedules will be mailed to parents approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the first day of school.

3 Science Course Sequence
7th Life Science 8th Physical Science

4 Math Course Sequence 7th 7th Grade Math Pre-algebra Math Team (Pre-algebra) 8th Pre-algebra Algebra I Math Team (Algebra I) All students need to request a math. Placement will be based on student request, State Testing, and math grades. Students may take Geometry in the 9th grade if they complete Algebra I in the 8th grade.

Both courses include grammar and literature.

6 Social Studies Sequence
7th Citizenship/Geography 8th World History to 1500

8 8th Grade Courses English Math Science Social Studies
Physical Education Computer Essentials/Family and Consumer Science One of the Following: Agriscience or Agriscience II Advanced Band (took band in 7th grade) Beginner Band (did not take band in 7th grade) Music Appreciation Choir (performance) Art ELL (English language for students learning to speak English) Piano Foreign Language through ACCESS Office Aide/Library Aide Yearbook Staff Greek and Roman Mythology Remediation (Study Hall)

9 Schedule Changes Requests for elective course changes may be submitted during the first three days of the school year. Requests for specific teachers will not be honored. Summer Reading Eighth grade students will have a summer reading project. This will be announced prior to the end of the school year. We will also post the assignment on the school’s website.

10 1:1 Initiative All students will receive a laptop computer.
Laptops will be issued during the first month of school. Parents will have to attend an orientation prior to their child receiving a laptop. Canvas

11 Athletic Eligibility Requirements
Students entering the 8th grade must have passed during the last two semesters in attendance and summer school, if applicable, at least five new subjects with a minimum composite numerical average of 70 in those five subjects and must have been promoted to the next grade level. Students entering the 7th grade for the first time are eligible.

12 Other Bell Schedule – 7 Periods. School begins at 7:50 and ends at 3:00. There are five minutes between classes and a nine minute break between second and third periods. Pods – Each grade level is divided into two pods. Each pod shares the same English, Math, Science, and Social Studies teachers. Locks – PE locks are $5.00 PE uniforms – May be purchased from the Spirit Shop or C&C Graphics for $15.00. Athletic PE – Coaches will place students in Athletic PE. Backpacks – They do not come with the computers. Lockers – Purchase in homeroom on the first day of school for $13.00. Frequently Addressed CMS Policies (i.e., dress code, loss of privileges, cell phones and homework policy) are found on the handout at the door.
