What are groups in Outlook?
How many of you don’t use on a day to day basis?
Today we will focus on collaboration in Outlook as it relates to groups.
. Collaboration has always been a focal point of Outlook, and since is so ubiquitous and familiar for everyone its easy to really improve productivity. Whether you are using Distribution lists, shared calendars or sharing attachments we’ve put a ton of focus on Collaboration in the past few years – specifically with through our investments in Cloud Attachments, and Office 365/Outlook Groups.
Group in Outlook is a modernized way to collaborate with others and achieve more while still being in the familiar space of outlook.
Groups in Outlook are powered by the intelligent fabric of Office 365 Groups. This means that you get a Single identity in AAD with membership shared across all the resources, and permissioning is set appropriately for the members in the resources without any additional effort from the user.
1. single identity for group and membership 2. federated resources with the right permisioning and 3. loose coupling so that services are notified when changes happen in one service versus another.
Today we have over 14 million monthly active users using groups to get things done. ( Show graph?? )

We’ve seen a florist working with a small team using groups, to government officials sharing top secret information. Whether you are working with just the people in your organization or with vendors, sales folks, or external partners groups can help you achieve more.
There are really no obstacles to getting started. Identify the people you need to work with, and create a group. Users don’t have to worry about sending requests to admins and admins then approving them before they can be productive. Similarly admins don’t have to do the mundane work and can use their time elsewhere.
