12. The building is the ancient residence of Gabriele Vendramin, a Venetian nobleman and refined intellectual who lived during the first half of the sixteenth-century. He was distinguished for his cultural intellect and as a patron of the arts in Venice during that period. He filled his home with paintings by Giorgione, including the famous Tempest, today at the Gallerie dell’Accademia, and works by Tiziano (Gabriele was a client and friend to both). The palace is being sold with the furniture.

It is thirty meters from Strada Nova,one of the main pedestrian arteries of the city. The area is picturesque and lively with lots of shops and “Bacari” (typical Venetian restaurants) and the location of a colourful local market. A fifteen minute walk along Strada Nova takes you to Rialto Bridge, from the characteristic structure that gathers together the oldest goldsmiths in Venice. Just 5 minutes further, crossing Mercerie, you reach the alleys full of Italian and international designer boutiques and then you arrive to the splendid St. Mark’s Square. Just a stroll from Ca’ Vendramin di Santa Fosca is located the Venice Casino.
