BASICS OF ANATOMY BY DR. VIVEK B. SATHE SCHOOL OF PHY EDU DAVV INDORE

2 DEFINITION OF ANATOMY The science which deals with the structure of the body by means of dissection. Anatomy is the study of the parts of the body, their forms, position, and the relationship they present to each other. This knowledge has been obtained by careful dissection and further expanded by the detailed study of the structure of the various tissue under the microscope.

3 DEFINITION OF ANATOMY (CONT)
Human anatomy is a special field within anatomy. It studies organs and systems of the human body, leaving the study of tissues to histology and cells to cytology. The human body, like the bodies of all animals, is made up of systems, that are made up of organs, that are made up of tissues, that are made up of cells.

4 DEFINITION OF ANATOMY (CONT)
Anatomy (from the Greek anatome, from ana-temnein, to cut up), is the branch of biology that deals with the structure and organization of living things. The science of the structure of the body and the relation of its parts; it is largely based on dissection, The branch of science that studies the physical structure of living organisms

5 DEFINITION OF PHYSIOLOGY
The branch of the biological sciences dealing with the functioning of organisms Processes and functions of an organism Physiology (in Greek physis = nature and logos = word) is the study of the mechanical, physical, and biochemical functions of living organisms.

6 DEFINITION OF PHYSIOLOGY (CONT)
A branch of biology that deals with the functions and activities of life or of living matter (as organs, tissues, or cells) and of the physical and chemical phenomena involved; the organic processes and phenomena of an organism or any of its parts or of a particular bodily process

7 TYPES OF ANATOMY Human anatomy is primarily the scientific study of the morphology of the adult human body. It is subdivided into gross anatomy and microscopic anatomy. Gross anatomy (also called topographical anatomy, regional anatomy, or anthropotomy) is the study of anatomical structures that can be seen by unaided vision. Microscopic anatomy is the study of minute anatomical structures assisted with microscopes, which includes histology (the study of the organisation of tissues),and cytology (the study of cells).

8 IMPORTANCE OF ANATOMY FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATORS
For understanding the growth and development of child and their ability to bear load For precaution and treatment of sports injuries For the development of modern skill and technique on the anatomical and physiological characteristic

9 IMPORTANCE OF ANATOMY FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATORS
For analysing the effect of physical load on various system of human organism For the study of human motion For knowing the difference between male and female and their ability to bear load For the selection of talent
