6 Sonoco Recycling and New Hanover County Partnership
Partnership established in July 2015. Presence now in Eastern North Carolina, which fit well into our Jacksonville and Raleigh MRF footprint. Secured long term supply of material for Sonoco Paper Mills and ITG, as NHC and City of Wilmington had an established recycling programs. New Hanover County has a growing population (Estimated 10.3 % from 2010 to 2016), leading to increased recycling volumes. Unique example of City and County working together finding a common solution. Combination of NHC and City of Wilmington’s volumes along did not justify the capital investment. We were able to redirect additional volumes into the area to meet our justification requirements.

7 Sonoco Recycling and New Hanover County Partnership Continued
Creativity from all parties: NHC had the property and was willing to invest in the building and infrastructure. Sonoco Recycling used the “Mirco – MRF” approach. Logistic savings opportunities within Sonoco Recycling, City of Wilmington, and other established partners in the area. Port of Wilmington. Combination of all the factors leading us into this unique opportunity. Continuous collaboration from both parties over the years is driving this successful partnership.
