11 OUR WEBSITE www.history.pcusa.org
PHS has invested a lot of time and money into our website. You can go onto the website to search our Online Catalogs, to learn more about and services and to access our blogs. Our blog help to connect historical information that is in our collection to current events.

12 HIDDEN FIGURES BLOG One of the blogs we would like to highlight is a blog about the movie Hidden Figures. In this movie Taraji P Henson portrays Katherine G. Johnson whoism was a devoted Presbyterian and has served her church and Presbytery for many years. She is also famed for her trajectory calculations of the 1969 Apollo 11 mission, the first human voyage to the moon and on-the-fly computations that enabled the Apollo 13 astronauts to return safely home from space. In her later NASA career, Johnson worked on the Space Shuttle program and the Earth Resources Satellite and encouraged students to pursue careers in the science and technology fields. In addition to the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Johnson co-authored more than 20 important scientific papers for NASA. On May 5, 2016, the 55th anniversary of Alan Shepard’s historic rocket launch and splash down, the new Katherine G. Johnson Computational Research Facility was formally dedicated at the NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia.

14 Those are some of the ways to stay in touch with the Society’s historical ministry, and to let us know what’s going on at your church. We’d like to further encourage those interactions by giving out free church memberships today to all churches who attended this luncheon. Each membership is at the Associate level, a $50 value, and they entitle you to free PHS publications, including the digital Journal of Presbyterian History. We’ll pass out the free membership forms now and collect them at the end of the luncheon. Church membership
