Internet Protocol Mr. Paulk
2
What is a Protocol ? A protocol is a set of rules that govern how systems communicate. For networking they govern how data is transferred from one system to another.
3
WHAT IS Internet protocol?
The Internet Protocol (IP) is the method or protocol by which data is sent from one computer to another on the Internet. Each computer (known as a host) on the Internet has at least one IP address that uniquely identifies it from all other computers on the Internet.
4
Ip address? An IP address is a 32- bit number that identifies each sender or receiver of information that is sent Basically it Identifies you! It’s like your home address but for internet!
5
Putting it all together
Think of the protocol like a sandwich or a cake!
6
Task! Lets try and put it in your own words…
Directions: Take the next minutes and think of your own “protocol”. Draw it out on a piece of paper like the sandwich example from the video. Make sure you label the application (The start) -> Transport-> Networking -> Datalink (The End)

How it all works… NETWORK FOURTH THIRD INTERNET SECOND TRANSPORT FIRST

HTTP HTTPS FTP NETWORKING TERMS MEANING IP TERM Encryption
Internet Protocol -a digital media transport system that runs over standard IP networks HTTP Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) - the standard protocol for transferring hypertext documents “information” on the World Wide Web. HTTPS Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) is the secure version of HTTP, the protocol over which data is sent between your browser and the website that you are connected to. The 'S' at the end of HTTPS stands for 'Secure'. It means all communications between your browser and the website are encrypted Encryption Encryption is the process of encoding a message or information in such a way that only authorized parties can access it FTP File Transfer Protocol (FTP) - allows users to copy files between their local system and any system they can reach on the network
