If this is a classroom…. If they elected a leader, what gender would represent the population best? There is accurate representation if… A female would be elected 80% of the time. There is underrepresentation if… A male would be elected a little more than 20% of the time.

What about today…? In the US, despite being 51% of the total population… There have only been 44 female senators ever (currently 20) There have only been 300 female representatives There have only been 4 female supreme court justices out of 112 And there has never been a female President of the United States

Reflection Let’s think about it…
if slightly more than half of the world’s population is made up of females (and it is), then shouldn’t slightly more than half of the world’s leaders be females at any given point in time?
