2. What is Poetry Out Loud?
Poetry Out Loud (POL) is a poetry recitation competition that takes place at a local school level, a regional/state level, and finally, a national finals level.
You get to choose the poem that speaks to you!
You will practice memorizing and practicing your presentation of the poem before the grade level competition.
Team Competitions will be held May 8-10.
Grade level Competition will be held May 12.
School level Competition will be held May 19.

3. How do I find my poem? Go to poetryoutloud.org.
Search the anthology for a poem that you like.
Accuracy counts! Make sure you write your poem down word for word. You can access the website anywhere- not just at school!

4. Practice, Practice, Practice!
Look on the website for tips on memorizing and performance.
Ask your friends to listen to you for word accuracy.
Make sure you understand the meaning of the poem so you can deliver it appropriately.
Ask your teacher to evaluate you before the competition day!
