it was a great event this year.
© Presto Plans Read the paragraph below and find examples of metaphor, simile, onomatopoeia, personification, oxymoron and/or alliteration. The annual community picnic was an event not to be missed. This year, the sun stretched its shining arms around the park, and the sunflowers danced from side to side. The picnic table was packed with palatable snacks and delicious pop in plastic glasses. Frisbees made a whizzing sound as they flew from person to person, and loud splashes came from the kiddie pool. The relay race was taken very seriously. Some thought it was as competitive as the Olympic games. The only difference was that none of the competitors were very good, so they had even odds of winning. All in all, it was a great event this year.

Grendel’s Family Tree After reading, you have two activities to complete today: Complete the English Language Change activity. Annotate the Old and Middle English Lines. Then, using clues from your annotations and knowledge of the plotline, rewrite the scene into our own modern day English. If you can’t fir it into the cellphone graphic, feel free to use the back of the handout. Complete the English Language Change activity. Read both articles (links are on my website) and respond to the three prompts on your handout.
