1 Jacob Riis He worked to improve city living conditions. He also wrote a book called “How the Other Half Lives" and a few more. Showed photographs of slum life to the United States. Was called the “Emancipator of the Slums”. He worked for 25 years to try and improve the living conditions for the poor. He wrote and lectured about the poor.

10 Susan B. Anthony Susan worked to have the 19th Amendment passed which said that women had the right to vote. She traveled from county to county in many states, making speeches and organizing clubs about women’s rights. In 1869 Susan formed the National Women Suffrage Association (NWSA) with the help of many other women.
