Scaled scores are used to report national curriculum test outcomes.
Scaled scores help test results to be reported consistently from one year to the next. National curriculum tests are designed to be as similar as possible in terms of challenge year on year, but slight differences in difficulty will occur between years. Scaled scores maintain their meaning over time so that 2 pupils achieving the same scaled score in different years will have demonstrated the same attainment. A pupil’s scaled score is based on their raw score. The raw score is the total number of marks a pupil receives in a test, based on the number of questions they answer correctly. The pupil’s raw score is translated into a scaled score using a conversion table. For the KS2 tests a scaled score of 100 represents the ‘expected standard’. A scaled score of 110 represents working at greater depth.

Writing This is assessed at school by the teachers in the department. It is moderated in-house by all Year 6 teachers and also by other Year 6 teachers from local primary schools. Local authorities are responsible for organising external moderation visits for key stage 2 writing by their own moderators.

Revision This will start in mid-March. Each child will remain with their class teacher and appropriate resources will be selected to support them. We have revision books for the children, for SPAG and maths. You can either purchase these for your child or your child can borrow one from us. Homework We will be sending a revision timetable out with the children before revision starts. Revision homework lasts for approximately an hour each evening.
