The study of place, space and environment and how humans interact with the world around them. Two different ‘arms’ of geography: Physical: The study of the natural systems that govern the Earth Human: Interactions between natural systems and humans

Human Geography and Urbanization
Urban Area (a city): An area that is densely populated by humans and there is no agricultural employment. Write down the first words that come to your mind when you think of cities. List at least 10.

Other Key Terms Rural An area of very low population density and land use is dominated by agriculture or wilderness. Suburban An area that is heavily populated by humans. Usually found on the outer rings of the cities and defined by single-family homes. Population Density Average # of people per square kilometer. Math equation would be: # of people/# of square km Rural Suburban
