1 Unit 5 Fantastical Animals
Objectives: Identify vocabulary related to fantastical animals. Describe fantastical animals.

3 The Kraken Kraken is a legendary sea monster that appears near the coasts of Norway and Iceland. This creature normally lives at great depths, but it has been sighted at the surface and reportedly has "attacked" ships.

4 The Loughness Monster Nessie, also known as the Lochess Monster, lives in Scotland. Some people said they have seen it in the lake.

5 The Mermaid A mermaid is a legendary aquatic creature with the head and torso of a woman and the tail of a fish. The male version of a mermaid is called a merman.

6 Pegasus Pegasus are white, winged horses.
They live in the forest. They are very popular in Greek mythology.

7 The Yeti The Yeti or The Abominable Snowman, is a huge, hairy creature that lives in the Himalayan mountains.

8 Fairy A fairy is a mythical creature that has magic.

9 Dragon A mythical fire-breathing reptile. It has wings anda long tail.
In Western cultures, the dragon has often been associated with evil. In many legends a dragon was also often the guardian of a treasure.

10 Minotaur A Minotaur is a creature from Greek mythology that is half human and half bull. It was said to have lived at the center of a great labyrinth (an elaborate maze) built for King Minos.

11 Dwarf A Dwarf is a short, strong creature in German mythology and fairy tales.

12 Alien Aliens are creatures from outer space.
Many people have reported seeing aliens, although their existence has not been proven.

13 Chupacabra This is a large animal rumored to have been seen in the Americas, including Chile. It eats goats.
