2. Early life
The son of two actors poe's family was abandoned by their father,not soon after the year Poe's mother died.orphaned at age of three Poe was taken in by Francis Allen who never formally adopted Poe.
Later tensions between Poe and his guardian rose when financial troubles brewed.
Struggling to make ends meet for secondary school Poe decided to join the army in 1827 and around this time he started to make a publishing career.

3. His work
Making many short stories and poems Poe was later given the title "father of the detective story".
His writing style is described as Gothic fiction,it was not his favored style but he used this style to appease public demand.beyond horror Poe wrote many satirical and comedic pieces much of the time criticizing the wealthy
Many of Poe's works were created with the mass market in mind.
Planned to write his own journal to publish called “the stylus” but never got the chance to fnish it since he died.
Very few of his works showed success in his lifetime,when he released “the raven” it was an instant success making Poe a household name but only winning him $9 for it publication

4. Life struggles
Edgar Allan Poe was one of the first to make a living writing but at the time he could only make so much.through most of his life he spent in poverty.
His guardian came to inherit a $750,000 and gained much wealth but at the same time Poe saw no share of this wealth,so much so that he had to withdraw from the university of virginia due to a lack of funds
Got engaged to sarah elmira royster but after being gone a while at virginia university he learned that while he was gone his betrothed had married someone else.
Married his 13 year old cousin at the age of 26

5. His Death
His death at age 40 has a mystery to it and no one is completely sure how edgar allan poe died,he was found on the streets very delirious and described as “in great distress” and “in need of immediate assistance”.he was later taken to the hospital and died the next morning.to add to the mystery all medical records of Poe are lost
Some theories to his death are suicide,murder,rabies,drugs and alcohol addiction
