Annotation can include:
Taking notes in the margin for later review
Connecting thoughts with lines and arrows
Circling or underlining items that are important
Highlighting key ideas or thoughts
Write quick summaries of the text

6. Why annotate? Annotation allows the reader to:
Stay organized when reading a complex text
Begin to analyze prior to writing a response
Increase comprehension/understanding of text
Expose patterns or beliefs presented in a text
