2. Background
Kathy Sowers, Director, Financial Management & Comptroller established the shadowing program along with SAF/AQX/FMB/FMC
Since late January about ~45 employees have traveled to DC and shadowed key SAF/AQX/FMB/FMC personnel over a one or two week period
Program will pause from 1 Aug to 9 Sep
Feedback from participants continues to be great
Many opportunities to sit in on a number of high-level meetings with senior leadership
Mentoring session with leaders like Maj General Martin and Ms. Carolyn Gleason from SAF/FMB, Mr. John Miller and Ms. Valerie Muck from SAF/AQX and Ms. Kathy Watern and Mr. Grant McVicker from SAF/FMC

3. Top Level Process
Ms Sowers / AFLCMC-FM solicits FM nominations from PEO CFOs (including SMC) for 3 month timeframe
AFLCMC-FM organizes nominations and sends to SAF/AQX
FM Nominees complete Individual Matrix Form / AQX confirms accurate and full submission of requested data
SAF/AQX receives FM names – s to them the Pentagon Individual Assignment Matrix to confirm interest areas, presentation topic and to finalize TDY dates
FM Nominees (1) complete TDY orders in DTS (Marriott Residence Inn / Doubletree Hotel are walking distance), (2) contacts PEM to arrange meet-up, (3) arranges Pentagon and Capitol Hill tour
SAF/AQX meets with SAF/FM offices to review completed matrices – and rack / stack the sequencing & hosting of FMers
AQX or SAF/FM POC s background package of documents to assigned FM’er
AQX s final decisions to FM nominees for confirmation
Hosting office (AQX or SAF/FM) arranges prep call 1 week before TDY; confirms arrival date/time & HQ POC individual
First day: Greet at Pentagon Visitor Center – FM’er receives Visitor non-escort badge
FM’er sets themselves up in Host Office desk space / set up. Review day schedule with HQ POC
End of day calendar review to prep FM’er for next day. Overview of FM and AQX meetings for their selection.
HQ POC arranges date/time/conference room for FM’er(s) to provide presentation on field level topic.
AQX sends to FM’er Survey Feedback Form for completion – FM’er submission is official completion of program!
Completed Survey Forms shared with AFLCMC/FM, SAF/FM and AQX leadership.
HQ POC facilitates set up of 30 minute mentoring session with FM or AQX SES leader
Last day: HQ POC facilitates “coining” or other final send-off for FMer
