Poetry Slam Project You will create and present your poem to the class with an innovative poster

Poetry Slam You may: Write your own poem (extra credit)
Choose a poem (suggested poets on the last slide) Choose an appropriate song that includes enough poetic devices for you to discuss

The Assignment: You must read, analyze, and interpret (torture ) your poem/song in order to fully understand it. Your poster should include TPCASTT & SOAPStone analysis as well as details highlighting poetic devices in your poem (figurative language, alliteration, onomatopoeia, allusion, rhythm, rhyme, etc.). The theme should be CLEARLY labeled on the poster. Don’t forget to explain HOW the poetic device supports the theme in the margins!

Poetry Slam Poster Include *creative* visuals to accompany your poem/song. You can paint, color, or use collage to illustrate the imagery in the poem/song of your choice. Be sure to copy the poem exactly as it appears, including the title and poet.

Poetry Slam Friday: You will first present your posters to your groups. Poetry Slam: If you read your poem and present your poster on Friday, you will receive extra credit. Field trip kiddos- drop off your posters zero period!
