4. Why use a template? The hard work has already been done for you
You know they look good!
There are several styles available
You can just cut & paste!!
You can personalize with colors, fonts and pictures

5. Background Colors
Make sure you have a good contrast between your background color and your font color
Colored backgrounds will attract attention
Simple backgrounds allow the content to be the focus
Use white for busier posters

6. Fonts Funky fonts do NOT work well Stick to the classics
Serif fonts: have feet that keep the eye moving – Times New Roman
Examples of bad fonts to use;
bare code
Blackadder
Curlz
Jokerman

7. Colors & Font sizes Your poster will be viewed from 3-4 feet away
Title between
Headers 50-80
Text no lower than 35
Color ratio at least 400 RGB
Sum total of all color RGB’s

8. RGB – red, green, blue RGB color numbers Right click
Format background/Font
Choose Color
Custom Colors
Add & subtract – black=0, white=765

9. Pictures INSERT pictures rather than using copy & past
Use good quality photographs – the highest resolution you have access to.

10. Proof your poster!
Print an 8.5x11 preview of your poster to see how it will look
Go to Print
Select your printer
Select the Scale to fit paper box
Get feedback from colleagues
