Spiritual Paralysis…..

Fear……. I Samuel 17:8 - 11 Scripture tells us about many instances of fear causing a lack of movement, take David’s brothers for instance. They had Goliath…….. David had the LORD and guess what….. We know who won! I Samuel 17:

False Belief in our own abilities…… Judges 16:20
Samson is another classic example of how our own ability can spiritually paralyze us as individuals and as a body……. We may not kill a lion with our bare hands but we may live a “clean” life and feel pretty confident about our spirituality. Just like God allowed Samson to fall are we not ripe for the picking when we think, “look what I did” or “look at our church”

Outside influences.... Matthew 14: 26-31
Let’s jump ahead to the New Testament and take a peek at old Peter…… Can you imagine hopping out of a perfectly fine, floating boat to walk on water????!!!!! He was good until he noticed his surroundings and doubt crept in. How many times have we began a good work for it to only get abandoned because we hear the nay-sayers or “logic” tells us that we can’t…..but what does the scripture say?

Indifference……the saddest place to be spiritually Acts 26: 24-28
This to me is the saddest because we can’t get moved enough to act and therefore we suffer from spiritual paralysis. Individually we may actually not care or “its’ someone elses’ job” or “I just don’t know what to do”. That can lead us to be like King Agrippa. As a body we come in, we show up when the doors are open but are we really moving spiritually, or are we simply paralyzed from that indifference?
