What happened at Thermopylae? The Spartans brought about 1,400 soldiers to fight the Persians at the Hellespont. They fought them off for three days, but were trapped when the Persians found a route to get behind them. The Spartans stayed and chose to die fighting. The Persians went down fighting. The Persians went on to burn Athens.

What happened at Salamis? This was a sea battle in which the Athenians took their navy against Persian’s navy. The smaller Athenian ships outmaneuvered the Persian ships. Many Persian ships were sunk and the Athenian navy won the battle.

What happened at Plataea? Soldiers from all over Greece came to fight the Persians and the Persians would be defeated and this brought an end to the Persian Wars.
