Activities include: Lesson One: Google Maps
Students locate their own house, locate Barker, seek directions between the two locations, get the program to model different/alternate routes and then track directions between Barker and the venue for their end of year Adventure Camp. Lesson Two: Google Earth and The National Public Toilet Map Students are to look at the environs of their end of year camp and to use a digital mapping source/database to plan comfort stops on their way to Jindabyne for camp. Lessons Three and Four: Memory Map Students explore the Snowy Mountains area that they will be enjoying during their end of year Adventure Camp. They will use Memory Map Discoverer (a digital mapping program) software in order to plot the route for their Mt Kosciuszko walk. Students will create a route, look at the area in a 3D presentation, create a fly-through of their walk, create a profile of their walk and put together a presentation of the key aspects of their walk route. Extension work 1: The canoeing day is spent on the Snowy River, between Halfway Flats and the Pinch River. Students travel from Jindabyne to the Snowy River along Barry Way. Extension work 2: Google Earth track. Create trip down the Snowy River from the start (Half Way Flats) to the finish of the trip (The Pinch River) that the students do on camp or a trip down the Barry Way from Bungarra to The Pinch River.
