Enrollment Management
Thank you to everyone who contributed their time to the Open House on November 12. We continue to have good numbers, especially for majors in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Business. Chancellor’s Scholarship finalists will be on campus Saturday, December 3. We will host 100 of our most talented applicants for Fall 2016. Commencement Ceremony will be on Saturday, December 17 at 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Student Veteran Resource Center - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony was Friday, November 11. Thanks to all who participated.

College of Arts, Sciences, and Business
Bonnie Bachman (Economics) has been awarded an additional $99,989 by NSF for her project entitled, “I-Corps Sites: Journey to Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Missouri S&T” to bring the total award to $199,978. Vadym Mochalin (Chemistry) has been awarded $200,133 by Daicel Corporation for his project entitled, “Characterization, purification, chemical modification of nanodiamond particles (ND) for improved dispersion in aqueous and non-aqueous systems, and subsequent development, manufacturing, and testing of ND based composites.” Honglan Shi (Chemistry) has been awarded $20,281 by Missouri Water Resource Research Center for her project entitled, “Technology Assistance to Missouri Utilities to Meet DBP Standards.” Dr. Shi has also been granted use of a PerkinElmer NexION S300 System for a period of two years which is valued at more than $200,000.

College of Engineering and Computing Faculty and Student Recognitions Dr. Daniel Forciniti, (ChBE) selected as Faculty Fellow for the 2017 academic year in the Missouri S&T provost’s office. Dr. Serhat Hosder, (MAE) named Associate Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Kwame Awuah-Offei (MNE): Carnegie African Diaspora Fellowship Program Dr. Joel Burken, (CArEE) Distinguished Service Award from the International Phytoechnologies Society for work in developing the Scholars program and technical committee work on the 13th annual conference in Hangzhou, China. Dr. Kamal Khayat, (CArEE) received the Jean Claude Roumain Innovation in Concrete Award for Presented by the Strategic Devolvement Council (SDC) of the American Concrete Institute (ACI). Dr. Matt O’Keefe, (MSE) named Fellow American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) International (25 Fellows/year 3 are from MS&T). Dr. Wayne Huebner, (MSE) awarded the Ceramic Educators Award from The American Ceramic Society. Sanjay Madria (CS): Distinguished Member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) EMSE Graduates took 1st Place in team completion at the ASEM Meeting and also took Founders Awards for Best Graduate Program and Founders Award for Best Student Chapter.

Summary of FY17 activities year-to-date (September) Number of funded proposals is down by 8% for a total of 93 Total dollars is $13M which is up by 5% Number of new proposals submitted is up 26% for a total of 135 Total dollars is $35M which is up by 7% Number of active awards is up by 4% at 614 Total expenditures is $13M which is up by 3% Net grant and contract expenditures is $9M which is up by 3% F&A recovered is $1.8M which is up by 9%
