2 Pre-University Education & Outreach
Educational Segments: Pre-University Education & Outreach University Education IEEE-HKN Inspiring young people to select engineering as a career path by providing programs and products for the adult influencers To promote and enhance the content and delivery of engineering, computing and technology (ECT) education globally Dedicated to encouraging and recognizing individual excellence in education and meritorious work, in professional practice and IEEE’s designated fields Primarily serving pre-university educators; secondarily serving counselors and students Primarily serving university educators, students and ECT dept. heads; secondarily serving administrators Primarily serving university students; secondarily serving alumni members Engineering in the Classroom Online Resources Social & Humanitarian Innovation Engineering Education Accreditation Faculty Resources Educational Curriculum Student Academic Resources Student Leadership Development Mentoring and Tutoring Community Service Chapter Development

3 Pre- University: Getting Involved
Program Benefits How TISP (teacher in service program) Supports member engagement and allows volunteers to make a direct impact on public awareness of IEEE and the profession Host a training workshop and organize TISP sessions for the local school systems in your area Online Resource Portals Provide support to volunteers interested in conducting outreach to the pre-university education community Submit career or student profiles or suggest hands-on activities that can be turned into lesson plans for pre-university educators. EPICS in IEEE (Community projects) Raises the level of member engagement through volunteerism, enhances public image of IEEE, the section and the profession by serving the public good Facilitate brainstorming exercises within section/student branches to define a local problem and seeking solutions and apply for funding

4 University Education: Getting Involved
Program Benefits How Accreditation Have a direct impact on the quality of technical education in your field ; Program Evaluator Training (PEV) strengthens your expertise with educational criteria Apply to be a PEV or encourage others who are qualified to apply; Lead an effort to establish a relationship with an existing accrediting body (Outside of the US) IEEE Academic Establishes a working relationship with student branches and connects students and professors to the section members Assist /Sponsor a Student Branch in creating content videos; Identify target student branches; Identify student/professor partners and topic areas Early Career Faculty Development Sharing your knowledge and expertise will help shape the professional development of early career faculty and enhances engineering education Assist in planning and organizing ECFD projects which includes Identifying session topics ; Identifying subject matter experts and developing resource materials

5 How many of you are HKN members?
Option 1: If not everyone, we need to hold an induction ceremony at our next R1 BoG meeting! Option 2: If not, contact Karen and she will get you inducted at a local chapter ceremony!

6 IEEE-HKN: Getting Involved
Communicating about HKN to your section and other volunteers: Inviting Chapters to present at your section Including HKN in your updates to your chapters HKN chapters/students as volunteers Community Service is a key component of HKN Volunteers at your outreach or STEM activities Volunteers at meetings or conferences HKN chapters put on meetings/host speakers/job career fairs and resume services IEEE Eta Kappa Nu (IEEE-HKN) IEEE-HKN Chapter Page

7 Continuing Education: IEEE Certificate Program
EA provides IACET standard Continuing Education Units (CEUs or PDHs) for all recognized IEEE courseware There are also Certificates of Participation available Promotion campaign this year to stress the value of IEEE certificates in IEEE events During 2017, the IEEE Certificates Program is going through an evaluation of the programs automation and will be making improvements for greater efficiency for the end user
