Grammar Types of Sentences and End Marks
Energy makes things happen. What are some kinds of fuels? We need energy to make things happen! Give me the oil. An imperative sentence makes a request or gives a command. Usually imperative sentences end with a period. A declarative sentence makes a statement and gives information. It always ends with a period. An interrogative sentence asks a question. It ends with a question mark. An exclamatory sentence expresses strong emotion It ends with an exclamation point. . ! ? .

Grammar Quotation Marks and Punctuation
“Who knows where most of our energy comes from?” the teacher asked. The quotation marks “ ” are used in dialogue to set off the words of a speaker and in the titles of short works. In dialogue, punctuation goes inside the quotation marks. Write a couple of sentences using a conversation with someone. Exchange the sentences with a partner to identify your punctuation.
