3. What is ISO 9000
BSI describes ISO9000 as "a generic name given to a family of standards developed to provide a framework around which a quality management system can effectively be implemented."
This 'family' actually comprises a number of different standards. However, Registration of a 'Quality Management System' (QMS) is to the requirements set out specifically in ISO All the others are intended to help you implement an effective QMS and ultimately gain registration.

5. Why is ISO 9000 Important?
ISO 9000 is important because of its orientation.
While the content itself is useful and important, the content alone does not account for its widespread appeal.

ISO 9000 is supported by national standards bodies from more than 120 countries..
We think this is crucial. Many people in this field wrongly emphasize motivational and attitudinal factors. The assumption is that quality can only be created if workers are motivated and have the right attitude. This is fine, but it doesn't go far enough. Unless you institutionalize the right attitude by supporting it with the right policies, procedures, records, technologies, resources, and structures, you will never achieve the standards of quality that other organizations seem to be able to achieve. Unless you establish a quality attitude by creating a quality system, you will never achieve a world-class standard of quality.

6. Why is ISO 9000 Important?
ISO is also important because of its systemic orientation.
By establishing a quality attitude within your organization and by creating a quality system, you may be able to achieve a world-class standard of quality in your organization.
Simply put, if you want to have a quality attitude you must have a quality system. This is what ISO recognizes, and this is why ISO 9000 is important.

7. Plan – Do – Check – Act
The Plan – Do – Check – Act (PDCA) cycle is the operating principle of ISO's management system standards.
Plan – establish objectives and make plans (analyze your organization's situation, establish your overall objectives and set your interim targets, and develop plans to achieve them).
Do – implement your plans (do what you planned do).
Check – measure your results (measure/monitor how far your actual achievements meet your planned objectives).
Act – correct and improve your plans and how you put them into practice (correct and learn from your mistakes to improve your plans in order to achieve better results next time).
