Writing Workshop Model: whole class mini-lesson, then individual writing and student-teacher conferences Narrative stories should have a beginning, middle, end. Writing should include transitional words. Informational writing should include text features and researched information

ELA First, I will teach a mini-lesson.
Then, students can go to their desks and complete a fun individual, partner, or class activity. Last, kids will pair-share with a buddy what they worked on.

How to help your child at home
Reading: Read with or to your child nightly for at least 15 minutes. Ask your child questions DURING and AFTER reading. Help your child learn to spell and read our spelling and sight words. Math: Help your child memorize his addition and subtraction facts.

Dismissal Please remember the importance of emergency blue cards. Please do not send someone whose name is NOT on the blue card, because your child will NOT be permitted to leave with that person. Please be on time to pick your child up.

Snacks Because lunch is early, I will allow the children to bring in a healthy snack that will be eaten at the end of the day.

Please let me know ahead of time.
Birthdays If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday, please bring enough treats for the entire class (24 children). Please only send cupcakes, munchkins or individually wrapped snack. I can arrange for a short celebration (10 minutes) during snack time at the end of the day. Please let me know ahead of time.

Money Please write your child’s class, name and what the money is for on the envelope. Make sure your child tells the teacher that he/she brought money to school.
