Learning Objective: To continue your personal investigation into the matching hypothesis. Success Criteria Find 10 images of couples, celebrities or non- celebrities, that can be rated from 1-10 for attractiveness. Create a data collection sheet for your participants to complete. Prepare for the ethics committee in your group.

Create standardised instructions Explain what ppts will do Ensure you include a check of understanding. Create a consent form. There are two main sections of a consent form: A brief account of what students will do in the study A description of their ethical rights Create a standardised debrief Conduct research into Murstein, Walster et al. and 1-2 other studies.

Method Find images of 10 married couples
Males on one sheet Females on a second sheet Copy and paste the web address for every image you find into your references section. Create a data collection sheet that can be given to each of your 50 participants (e.g. age, gender, location, student or not etc) Prepare for the ethics committee See next slide

Ethics Committee You’ve now conducted your background research. Before you go any further you need to attend a meeting with the Ethical Committee. In order to prepare for the meeting you need: A consent form Standardised instructions Details of the method you will use A copy of the introduction in order for the board to read
