14. Tire Rotation
If applicable to your vehicle’s configuration, tire rotation should be performed in accordance with the tire manufacturer's recommended intervals, or sooner at the first signs of irregular (uneven) tread wear. Tire manufacturer’s rotation recommendations will necessitate a tire rotation at least once in between maintenance services and at every maintenance service based on Mercedes-Benz maintenance intervals.
The First rotation occurring at an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center at any time up to 5,000 miles (vehicle odometer) is provided at no charge.

Up to 2009 Mercedes Benz maintenance systems have been very complicated, as a result dealers have developed there own service packages which differ slightly from dealer to dealer.

26. What viscosity rating of motor oil is for my vehicle?
In general Gasoline engines require 0W-40. (Sheet 229.5)
Diesel engines require 5W-30 (229.51)

27. Why do I have to use synthetic oil for my vehicle?
Synthetic oil is used because it allows for a much longer oil change interval.
Synthetic oil is tougher because a synthetic oil's molecules are much more consistent in size and shape, they are better able to withstand extreme engine temperatures. By contrast, the unstable molecules in conventional oil can easily vaporize or oxidize in extreme heat. Mobil 1 synthetic is said to be capable of protecting engines "at well over 400F.
Synthetic oil is cleaner because a synthetic oil is chemically produced, there are no contaminants in the oil. By contrast, conventional oils contain small amounts of sulfur, wax, and other material that can promote detonation as well as varnish and sludge buildup. With no wax, synthetics will flow at much lower temperatures than conventional oils.

28. Why does my transmission from my last vehicle require no maintenance and my new vehicle requires maintenance when they both have the same transmission?
Production changes to the transmission software (722.6) caused the torque converter clutch to engage in all gears. Prior to the change it only engaged 3rd 4th &5th gears. A service interval was added because of the extra workload on the clutch.

30. Where is the oil drain plug located?
The oil drain plug is located on the bottom of the oil pan.
In most applications the under panels have to be removed.

31. My brakes squeak the dealer said they can’t fix it, what should I do?
Driving style may lead to brake squeak.
A driving style with a light but long brake application causes “glazing” of the pads and rotors.
A very aggressive driving style with many hard applications will increased brake temperatures this also causes brake squeak.
The trick is to modify driving style to somewhere between to two styles.
Foreign fluids or cleaners also cause brake squeak.
Product like BG anti-squeak fluid should be removed. (rotors & pads)

32. Why must I use Premium fuel?
The engine and programming of the electronic control module are designed and calibrated for premium fuels with higher Octane levels.
