Key Facts Renaissance means 'rebirth'. This is a movement from Italy where people began to question things. The teachings of the Catholic Church were beginning to become challenged. Vesalius - first person to dissect a body and discover that Galen was wrong on numerous points on anatomy. Printing is invented so ideas spread quickly. Pare - French army surgeon who invented the ligature. Harvey - discovery of the circulation of blood and purpose of heart.
