The Renaissance began in Italy in the late 13th and early 14th centuries People studied Greek and Roman writings that inspired a belief that people should be educated and that things like art, music, and science could make life better for everyone.

Italy was modernizing faster than elsewhere in Europe Italy was a collection of independent city states rather than an empire under 1 leader Went by old Roman Laws that made trade between regions easier than Mediaeval Law

Cultural Reason Italy was covered in the art of ancient empires which inspired new artists and encouraged culture and expression

Geography Reason Cities like Venice and Florence were large centers for trade Mild climate did not disrupt trade or travel Mild climate allowed for more food production so people had more time to spend on learning
