2 The aim of this workshop is to discuss making a great poster
The workshop covers The abstract The poster The presentation

3 The poster; not just a colourful abstract
Who are the audience? Do they have a copy of the abstract? What are the conference specifications? Size Orientation Is it stand alone or for presentation? Is there a competition?

4 Content Heading Title – largest font, short
authors, affiliations, logos – where the work took place Background/introduction A few sentence to justify the research, could a figure picture help to illustrate this?

5 Content Aim/objectives Very important, be concise and clear Method
May be hard to condense, consider a flow chart or photograph

7 Content Only those that relate to the aim/objectives
Use tables, pictures, figures if possible Good resolution to avoid blur Graphs use excel to remove grid lines make sure legend is readable

8 Content Discussion A couple of sentences, you can talk to interested people Include limitations if space allows One line take home message

9 Content References Only key ones Funding/conflicts of interest

13 Use gridlines, ruler and guides to line up text boxes and images
Avoid dark background colours Include figures, graphs, photographs Add your address Print some A4 size copies for people to take
