Overview This topic will answer the following questions:
What Is Employee Development? What is changing? How will clients learn about Employee Development? Who is responsible for setting up and supporting Employee Development? [Developer: Use this slide as the first slide in every new topic.]

What is Employee Development?
ADP Workforce Now provides clients with the ability to track employee development-related information, including: Education Licenses and certifications Skills Memberships Awards Training Language Previous employers Clients may allow their managers and employees to enter and update this information on their own using Manager and Employee Self Service.

What’s Changing? Currently, only HR clients who also have Talent have access to the Employee Development pages. Feedback from both clients and sales associates indicates a gap in the HR product offering, in that clients expect the HR module to provide the ability to store employee development information. To enhance our HR product offering, Employee Development will be offered to Core HR clients, even if they do not have Talent. [Developer: You may use this slide to include H1s in your topic if your topic is particularly complex and includes sub-topics with corresponding slides. In most cases, you will not need to use this slide and should instead use H2s, i.e., the “arrow” headers that follow.]

How Are We Communicating the Availability of Employee Development to HR Clients?
Beginning July 12th, ADP will field test offering Employee Development to selected V6 clients who do not currently use the feature. These clients, who have Core HR or HR Profile but do not have the Talent module, will see an alert message, similar to the one below, when they log on ADP Workforce Now. Track your employees’ knowledge, skills, and abilities within ADP Workforce Now. Click here to find out more.” When clients click the hyperlink, they will see another, more detailed message about tracking employee development and will be able to access training.

Who is Responsible For Setting Up and Supporting Employee Development?
Offering Employee Development to HR clients who do not have Talent, as well as PC/Payroll clients who have HR Profile, brings a change in the responsibilities for certain implementation and support roles.

Enabling Employee Development in the Client Wizard

Will Employee Development Be Enabled for All Clients?
Initially, Employee Development will be enabled for selected clients participating in the field test. The People > Development menu will be visible to all practitioners in the Standard Practitioner profile. If clients use custom practitioner groups to grant different practitioner different types of access, they will have to make Employee Development pages available to those custom groups in Setup > Security > Access Permissions. Practitioners will be able to manage employee and manager access to Employee Development pages, in order for them to view, add, or edit information.

How Do I Enable Employee Development?
You can enable Employee Development in the Client Setup Wizard, Step 3: Activities Selection. Follow the directions in the highlighted area of the Activities Selection page to enable the feature, specific pages, or edit privileges for the specific pages. When the boxes are green, the feature and related pages are enabled for the client. In this example, all of the Development pages are enabled.

How Do I Disable Employee Development?
It is not advisable to disable Employee Development in the Client Wizard, Instead, you can edit manager and employee access permissions by clearing the checkboxes on the My Team or Myself Menu pages so that managers and employees do not see the pages in self-service. The procedures for activating the employee development pages in self-service are found on pages 38 – 40 of this self-study. You can follow similar procedures for deactivating access to the pages.

Clients can import employee development data instead of entering it into ADP Workforce Now. Clients can access the import guides and import templates needed on the Support Center.

Adding Custom Fields for Employee Development Data
Clients may want to add custom fields to Employee Development related pages if there is information they want to track but it is not provided in ADP Workforce Now. For example, some clients track tuition reimbursement payments on their employees’ Education pages. Why And When Do Clients Need To Set Up Approval Workflows?
Clients who allow managers and employees to update their development information in self-service may want to set up approval workflows so that those entries are reviewed, acknowledged, or approved by a practitioner or manager. Clients must set up the approval workflows before configuring the manager and employee self service access.

What Does It Mean to Manage Employee And Manager Access to Employee Development Pages in Self-Service? When Employee Development is enabled, clients can customize and manage manager and employee access to the related pages in ADP Workforce Now by: Enabling access permissions to the appropriate My Team and Myself pages in self-service Clients can further customize access by creating security groups, if needed, and specifying the types of access they want to give those groups of employees. For example, clients may create a security group for temporary employees to limit or prevent their self-service access.

After accessing the appropriate Manager Profile: Select My Team. Result: The My Team menu access page displays. Enable access to Employee Development pages by selecting the checkboxes to the left of each page. Enable the ability to edit those pages by selecting the checkbox to the left of the Edit Privileges selection for each of the pages. Click Save. After accessing the appropriate Employee Profile: Select Myself. Result: The Myself menu access page displays. Enable access to Employee Development pages by selecting the checkboxes to the left of each page.
