The deaf community is generally not the intended audience for live events, making it difficult for them to enjoy and share live experiences with their loved ones. Exacerbating this issue is the shortage of interpreters; there is little incentive to become a certified ASL interpreter because of the high technical barrier to entry. Our product, Sign Along, addresses both these issues by giving interpreters the opportunity to engage in passion projects (interpreting for music concerts) that do not require certification, and by giving deaf users the agency to vote for their favorite interpreter to come onstage and sign for their favorite artists.

8. Revised Interface Design
Using feedback from our low-fi prototypes, we made some changes to our interface. The following are the 3 biggest changes.

9. Design Changes: Voting for Interpreters
Before: People confused tapping Nay and Yay for swiping. Participants also found the swiping up and down motion to be unintuitive. We addressed this by.
Swapping to an icon based interface. Follow by tapping star. Nay by X. Yay by Heart. Comment by clicking speach bubble.

10. Design Changes: Practice Mode for Interpreters
Before: Last week, participants were concerned about recording a video submission in one take without any practice. The app contained no lyrics, embedded soundtrack, or any options to create multiple drafts and submit the best one.
After: We included the option to practice with the song and lyrics playing on the screen. When the user is ready to record their submission, they can then press record and save the draft when done. .

11. Design Changes: Upcoming Concerts Screen
Before: The upcoming concerts screen only consisted of concerts based on a user’s artist/preferences genres. Participants complained that selecting artist/genre preferences could result in no concert matches, which is irritating. Users also wanted concerts sorted in order of when they were coming up, so they can prioritize when they perform certain actions (voting, submitting videos, etc).
After: Show all upcoming concerts in an area. Order them of closest upcoming to furthest in the future. Emphasize the amount of time left for submission, date of concertn, time, location, etc.
