On Arrival at the Range New Member Orientation
Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation On Arrival at the Range On arrival, check to ensure the red flag is flying at the main gate, or at the side of the air pistol shed if you will be shooting air If it isn’t – put it up! No red flag means NO SHOOTING – even if you can’t find it!

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation On Arrival at the Range Then go to the range register at the back of R2 and fill it in (or in the Air Pistol shed if you are shooting air) Also (if required) fill in the Form 33A for unlicensed shooters Fill out your participation card and leave it with the range register

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation On Arrival at the Range If you can’t find the range register, or if you can’t get access to the locker it’s kept in, then NO SHOOTING Flying red flag and signing range register PRIOR TO SHOOTING are legal requirements and you are breaking the law if you shoot without flying the flag or signing the register first

Fill out the Range Register If you are unlicensed, in the “License No” column write “Form 33a” Category will generally be “H” for concealable or handgun Class will be “A” for Air Pistol, “B” for .38/9mm and “D” for .22cal Ensure you sign it For licensed persons only, if there is no designated Range Officer, complete the RO details yourself

If you are unlicensed, also fill out the Form 33a You will need a photo ID card such as driver’s license or student card For residential address, fill in suburb only Ensure you sign it

You also must by law maintain a Participation Card This must be retained for seven (7) years, and you will be required to produce copies of your participation cards for any license application or renewal Fill it out in the same manner as the range register

It is YOUR responsibility to ensure your range officer has signed off your: Range Register entry Form 33a Entry Participation Card Do not leave the range without ensuring all have been signed off – it’s YOUR record and YOUR responsibility

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Range Register Category will be: H – for Pistol A – for Rimfire Rifle Class (for Pistol only) will be: A – for Air Pistol B – for Centrefire Pistol up to .38cal C – for Centrefire Pistol >.38cal to .45cal D – for Rimfire Pistol .22cal

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Range Standing Orders Range Standing Orders are posted on the back wall of each range You must read and understand these orders – they contain important safety and legal requirements Compliance is mandatory

Your Match New Member Orientation
Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Your Match New members will generally be shooting 25m target matches on Range 3 – see the club website for match schedules Ensure the Range Officer’s name is marked on the chalk board at the back of each range you will use

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Your Match Contact the training officer several days prior to your match day to organise club firearms. .22cal ammunition will be provided as part of the training fee for the match Please

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Your Match Depending on your level of experience, the Training Officer will either assist you personally, or pair you up with an experienced member for your match

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Your Match A Safety briefing, and instruction on the firearm you will be using, as well as the match rules and objectives will be provided to you in a briefing before the match commences, as appropriate

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Your Match Once your match has concluded, remember to ensure your range officer has signed off your: Range Register entry Form 33a entry Participation card Keep your participation card with you and bring it to the range each time you attend

Once you are licensed New Member Orientation
Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Once you are licensed Once you are licensed, you can apply to the Committee for a gate combination and key to access the club as you wish Our permit allows us to shoot between 9am and 6pm almost every day of the year

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Once you are licensed We are also permitted to shoot rimfire pistols (.22cal only) between 6pm and 9pm each Wednesday, provided that day is not Christmas Day

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Targets, Props etc There are a range of props, target stands, target frames, steel plate targets etc that are available for use by members There are strict rules related to use of steel targets

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Targets, Props etc You SHALL NOT engage any steel target from a distance of less than seven (7) metres, regardless of ammunition type You SHALL NOT use jacketed ammunition to engage any steel target at ANY distance, or on any range where there is steel furniture – e.g. Range 2 and Range 3 or any IPSC course of fire where there are steel framed walls or steel plates or poppers

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Targets, Props etc At the conclusion of your shooting, all props should be removed and returned to the storage area, unless a Committee member authorises a range to be left “set up” If there is no Committee member present = pull it down and put it away

Ipswich Pistol Club Inc New Member Orientation Targets, Props etc Your membership fees include all use of targets, props, patches etc This does not mean you can abuse them Remember, it’s your club, and the cost for all of this comes out of your membership fees Please look after the club’s equipment – it comes out of your pocket
