Mission Statement The mission of WASCOP is to support and represent Wyoming law enforcement in their efforts to advance excellence in public safety.

WASCOP ROLE ► Be a leader in setting the standards in the Wyoming law enforcement community for ethics, effectiveness and efficiency through our policy and practices ► Be a leader on emerging issues and trends affecting Wyoming law enforcement, leading the way in identifying issues, conducting research, and equipping our members to be informed and prepared to meet the challenges and responsibilities presented ► Be a leading provider of services to Wyoming law enforcement agencies that enhance leadership, management, professionalism, and public safety ► Be a leading educator of public policy makers at all levels of government on issues related to public safety in Wyoming ► Be a leading partner to Wyoming law enforcement training providers to secure quality training for all Wyoming law enforcement professionals

Strategies Strategies used to fulfill our role in the Wyoming law enforcement community will include: ► Maintain a common future vision stated in a current, actionable, strategic plan ► Promote full participation of members ► Maintain standing and special committees to do the work that fulfills our role and achieves the objectives of our strategic plan ► Promote strong partnerships with state and federal agencies and regional leaders by bringing them into full participation in WASCOP ► Seek out, acquire and responsibly manage the financial resources necessary to fulfill our role

Secured additional EUDL funding Launched EUDL media campaign Acquired RX drop boxes and drug incinerators for agencies around the state Statewide adoption of Offender Watch Sex Offender Management Updated financial policies and procedures and received a no-finding audit Implemented investment strategy Developing marijuana talking points and media campaign Trained more FLS Assessment Center Assessors Delivered new Sheriffs training

Update list of WASCOP representatives and deliver reports to members Improve our legislative preparedness Scheduling IACP LPO training for summer 2016 Continued use of 1st Line Supervisor and Mid-Level Management Assessment Center Assistance for members through conference subsidies, training and support Marijuana talking points, legislative strategy, and media campaign Working on developmental assessment process Working on by-law updates Drafting an assessment center use policy for non-LE entities Scheduled statewide FLS assessment center for July 22, 2015 Beginning to develop sustainability of assessment center program

Future Priorities Create a Past Presidents committee
Develop mentor program for new executives Recruit command level officers as associate members Recruit and promote involvement of retired members New funding sources Identify high risk training needs and funding for training Seek funding for continuation of sex offender case management system with WASCOP as a managing partner

BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP
Lobbying efforts that uniquely combine all levels of law enforcement within Wyoming to speak as one voice regarding law enforcement issues to the State Legislature. Access to the ‘members only’ section of the WASCOP website which allows for the following privileges to be accessed by its members: membership directory, communication forums, and on line documents of interest, calendar. Committee work that focuses on contemporary law enforcement issues such as Juvenile Standards in jails, Alcohol issues, Traffic Safety, Member Services, Sex Offender monitoring. Professional and Peer Networking which occurs at the communication forums, training conferences, and committee work sessions. Annual training-based conference at discounted member pricing and access to the vendor trade show. Grants managed by the Association Reports, research, and data generated by the association Leadership training Assessment Centers Legislative representation Model policy and standards Technical Assistance Death Benefit

Subject matter experts on trending issues such as gambling, use of social media, NextGen 911, and The Task Force on 21st Century Policing Report Committee Work Developing policy statements and position papers Provide Assessors for the Assessment Centers
