4. Outcomes
Nearly half of 5-17 year olds living in care are diagnosed as having a mental health disorder
Nearly a third of adult prisoners, 31%, self- reported being in care as a child
35% of care experienced young people leave with one or more qualifications at SCQF level 5 or better, 85% of all school leavers achieve this level
There is a nearly 50/50 chance of becoming homeless for care experienced young people
Nine months after leaving school, 30% of care experienced young people are classed as unemployed , compared to 8% of their non care experienced peers.

94.7% of care homes for children and young people services were
graded as good or above
98.3% of fostering services were graded as good and above
94.6% of residential special schools were graded as good and above.
