3 The 8 Parts of Speech… A noun is a person, place, thing or idea.
An adjective describes a noun. It tells how many, which one and what kind. A pronoun takes the place of a noun. A verb shows action or state of being. An adverb describes verbs, adjectives and other adverbs. An adverb answers how, when, where, why and under what condition. Conjunctions “hook” together words, phrases and/or clauses. Prepositions are words that relate its object to another word in the sentence. Interjections are words that show emotion. Walsh Publishing Co

Parts of speech are the building blocks of English grammar. Learning correct grammar is the foundation to improving your writing skills. Walsh Publishing Co

6 The 8 Parts of Speech… We will be studying the eight parts of speech so hold onto your hats!!! Wow! 7 Parts of Speech Bingo In your groups, we will find the parts of speech using the Bingo game. Red students must find 3 in a row to win Yellow students must find 4 in a row to win Green students must find 5 in a row to win. We will play for 10 minutes, or until we have a winner for each level. Have fun!
