2 TWS/WebAdmin for z/OS Simulation
Version 2.2 of TWS/WebAdmin for z/OS provides forecast and critical path runtime simulation. This presentation shows examples of the basic functions: Temporarily change, insert or delete dependencies and jobs in TWS/WebAdmin’s tables Perform (mass) changes to the estimated durations Save simulation scenarios for later reuse Calculate the total duration of the critical path of all selected jobs Shows the jobs on the critical path In a list (table) As netplan (flowchart) As barchart

3 TWS/WebAdmin for z/OS Simulation
You can start Simulation from AD Modify or Query part Specify search criteria and click Simulation

Enter a name and description to save your simulation scenario (selection and modifications)

You can load and reuse your saved simulation scenarios later

General information about the simulation (not jet started) The selected applications and jobs Click Simulate to start the calculation of planned start times and the critical path

Enter a default start time and check if time dependencies should be taken into account or not (input arrivals are always considered to build the external dependencies)

The critical path has been calculated (45:02 min) Operations on the critical path are marked

If you scroll right, you can see estimated planned start and end times, which are calculated, based on the dependencies and estimated durations

You can define one or more change rules, e.g. add/subtract a percentage or set a specific duration. Here we add 10 percent to the duration of operations on WS=WAIT of applications TCP* Here we add 10 percent to the duration of operations on WS=WAIT of applications TCP*

The higher durations result in a longer critical path (49:32 min) The new “computed simulation durations”

Maybe some dependencies should be changed. In the Netplan, the operations on the critical path are marked red You can insert, delete, modify applications and operations just for simulation

Click on Modify and you can change “everything” of an application

e.g. change or add external predecessor by using the application/operation picker

15 TWS/WebAdmin for z/OS Simulation
The changed application will be stored in TWS/WebAdmin’s internal database with state “simulation”. You can keep that simulation version as long as you want and optionally you can take it over into TWS.

The recalculated critical path is shorter now (38:32 min), even if the durations are still increased

You can see which applications has been changed for simulation and which are unchanged (actual)

In the new netplan, the operations of changed applications are marked green and the new critical path is marked red (the blue one’s are identical to the current version in TWS)

If there are time depending jobs, the calculation routine can optionally take care about it. The critical path may get longer (here 01:41:01 now)

Applications are maybe scheduled in different run cycles on different days. Enter a date and you will get only that applications, scheduled on that day (e.g. Thursday)
