3. Registration Meeting
During registration, your child will be given a registration form to assist them in ranking the electives.
Parents and students should discuss the options available prior to making a decision regarding electives.
All Core courses and Flight will be entered into students course requests. Students will rank the 4 elective options and enter their top choice in HAC.

4. Typical 6th Grade Schedule
Language Arts (90 minutes)
Math (45 minutes*)
Science (45 minutes)
Social Studies (45 minutes)
Flight (45 minutes)
P.E. (45 minutes)
Elective (45 minutes)

5. Intervention During Flight
Gifted and Talented:
Students identified as gifted and talented are served through a pull out
Dyslexia:
Students identified as dyslexic are served through a pull out
Reading Intervention:
For students who did not meet minimum score on most recent STAAR reading test, Universal Screeners and/or district assessments
Math Intervention:
For students who did not meet minimum score on most recent STAAR math test, Universal Screeners and/or district assessments

7. Band in 6th grade
If your student has any interest in Band, 6th grade is the time to start!
Band Instrument Fairs will be held as follows:
Wednesday, February 21 for Percussion
Monday, February 26 for Brass and Woodwinds
* note specific times during presentation this evening
More info will be sent home with your student, or ask questions at the Band Elective presentations tonight.

8. Registration Form
Your student will need to rank their elective selection (1- 4) with #1 being their first choice.

9. Registration Forms
Completed Registration forms (Pink) are due February 16 to your student’s homeroom teacher. These forms require a parent signature.
If the Registration form is not returned, we will use the Draft form completed in class the week of February when entering the elective request into HAC.

10. Verification and Changes
Verification letters will be sent home this spring:
A verification letter CONFIRMS your students course selection but is not their schedule.
This is the final opportunity to make a change to the elective request.
Students will receive their 6th grade schedule when they return to school in August 2018.
Schedule changes will not be made once they receive their schedule.

11. Finally…
We know students change their mind, and we want to give them that opportunity.
They’ll have the following days/weeks to make their choice and changes:
DRAFT registration form the week of February 12-16
FINAL registration completed in HAC February 22 and 23
VERIFICATION letters are sent out with a final deadline of March 30.
