Presentation on theme: "“Heard from the Beginning”"— Presentation transcript:

1 “Heard from the Beginning”
“Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father” (I Jn. 2: 24).

2 “Heard from the Beginning”
Baptism for remission of sins. Active faith. Confession of Jesus’ deity. Repentance. The aim of slide two is to point out God’s original teaching relative to baptism (Acts 2: 38, 22: 16); active faith (Jas. 2: 24, Gal. 5: 6); confession of Jesus’ deity (Rom. 10: 9, 10); and repentance (Acts 17: 30, 31, 2 Cor. 7: 10, 11). Stress that this was “then” taught and is to be “now” taught as well. Notice how the animated graphic works to illustrate the “then” and “now.”

3 “Heard from the Beginning”
One church. Limited fellowship. Same public worship. Withdrawal from disorderly. Slide three shows how there was “then” one church (Eph. 4: 4, I Cor. 4: 17) that had limited fellowship (I John 1: 7); structured public worship (Eph. 5: 19; Acts 20: 7; I Cor. 16: 1, 2; Acts 4: 31) and withdrawal from members walking disorderly (2 Thes. 3: 6). Hence, the same is to be “now.” Stress the animated graphic.

4 “Heard from the Beginning”
We are warned to not add to or take away from the scriptures (Rev. 22: 18, 19). Also, we are not to pervert or change the First Century gospel (Gal. 1: 6-9).
