Background – EU 94/62/EC Ericsson requires suppliers to provide materials declarations for packaging in order to verify compliance to EU directive 94/62/EC and other global legislation 94/62/EC requires that heavy metals and other noxious substances are below stipulated levels in packaging materials 94/62/EC requires the following material categories to be reported: Household rubbish Glass packaging Plastic packaging Paper or board packaging Composite board packaging Metal packaging Wooden packaging Ericsson uses international standard IPC 1752 for materials declarations. This standard is intended primarily for electronics. For packaging materials the adaptions and simplifications described in this document may be applied. 18/ LXA Uen, Rev C

Declaration format This guide primarily describes how to complete packaging declarations in IPC format. The supplier submits materials declarations using a PDF form – template here: It is also possible to use the information in this guide to complete IPC-1752 D declarations. Ask you Ericsson packaging contact if you wish to work with IPC-1752 D. The slides that follow are a guide to how best to fill in the PDF form! 18/ LXA Uen, Rev C

5 Ericsson Packaging User Guide
Before starting! Before starting your declaration make sure you know which parts of the packaging must be declared! Ericsson allocates a p/n to the packaging (RTK 294 ***) This is always the single pack (the package which will be sent to Ericsson’s customer) It is this single pack that must be declared, not the unitized load (full pallet load) It is also the single pack that must be submitted for transport testing 18/ LXA Uen, Rev C

Last steps Save the file with a new name Always include your company name and the Ericsson product number and R state in the file name, e.g: Acme_RTK294***_* R1A the file to and also a cc to your Ericsson contact (request sender) Please note: Ericsson’s system performs an automatic syntax and completeness check in order to validate incoming declarations. Checks performed include: Correct CAS number usage, no weight mismatches, etc. If any errors are found, the system automatically sends an notifying you of the problem and asking you to correct and resubmit the declaration. If you have any problems, please contact the person at Ericsson who sent the request. 18/ LXA Uen, Rev C
