3 The Nature of God ELOHIM (2606x) “GOD” reshiyth elohim
It is found first in Genesis 1:1… The first two words of the Hebrew Bible are: reshiyth elohim In the beginning God And what did God do in the beginning? “He created the heavens and the earth.” 

4 The Nature of God EL SHADDAI (7x) “LORD GOD ALMIGHTY”
This term speaks of God’s greatness and glory, and His strength and power. He is able to fully nourish and provide for His people and to bless them with all their needs. He cares for His people as a parent would a child. Genesis 17:1 Abram was ninety-nine years old Genesis 28:3 Isaac was to find himself a wife

5 The Nature of God “We place You in the highest place.”
EL ELYON (28x) “THE MOST HIGH GOD” It refers to the sovereignty of God. It is about the supreme power and authority and preeminence of God. Psalm 47:2 “For the LORD Most High is to be feared, a great King over all the earth.’ “We place You in the highest place.”

6 The Nature of God ADONAY (434x) “LORD, MASTER”
Daniel 9:3-4 “So I gave my attention to the Lord God to seek Him by prayer and supplications, with fasting, sackcloth and ashes.  I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed and said, ‘Alas, O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and lovingkindness for those who love Him and keep His commandments…’”

7 The Nature of God YHWH (over 6500x) “LORD”
Known as the tetragrammaton (“four letters”). YHWH was the Hebrew word for God that was too sacred to be spoken aloud by the Jews. Transliterated into English as Jehovah or Yahweh. Exodus 3: (“I AM” from hayah “to be”) Adhonay is rendered as Lord. YHWH is rendered as LORD or LORD.

8 The Nature of God JEHOVAH SABAOTH “THE LORD OF HOSTS”
Denotes God’s universal sovereignty over every army, both spiritual and earthly. 1 Samuel 17:45 “You come to me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have taunted.” “If God is for us, who can be against us?”

9 The Nature of God JEHOVAH RAAH “THE LORD MY SHEPHERD”
Found in the famous Psalm 23. JEHOVAH JIREH “THE LORD WILL PROVIDE” Found in Genesis 22:14 where Abraham gave a symbolic name to Mount Moriah after God provided the substitute sacrifice to take the place of Isaac.

10 The Nature of God IN THE GREEK NEW TESTAMENT THEOS KYRIOS
From the Hebrew word Elohim and is typically translated into English as God. KYRIOS From the Hebrew words Adhonay and YHWH (Yahweh) and are typically translated into English as Lord.

Acts 16: “He fell down before Paul and Silas, and after he brought them out, he said, ‘Sirs, what must I do to be saved?’ They said, ‘Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.’”

14 The Nature of God THE WORD ELOHIM IS PLURAL
When Elohim is used to refer to false gods, it is translated in the plural sense as “gods.” But when Elohim is used to refer to the one true God, it is treated grammatically as singular. Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.”

Because it refers to more than just the Father. Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.’”

Because it refers to more than just the Father. Genesis 1:26 “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.’”

21 The Nature of God SO WHY IS ELOHIM PLURAL?
Because it refers to more than just the Father. John 1:1-3 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God.” “Word” is Greek logos meaning “spoken word.” The “Word” is Christ who was with the Father. Known by many names: Lord, Savior, Jesus, Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One.

22 The Nature of God CHRIST WAS WITH GOD AND WAS GOD
The Father is ELOHIM, and so is the Son. The Father is THEOS, and so is the Son. There is indeed only one true God, but He consists of both the Father and the Son. Both are DIVINE and rightly called GOD!

23 The Nature of God CHRIST WAS WITH GOD AND WAS GOD
Philippians 2:6-8 Christ “existed in the form of God” before He “emptied Himself…” Colossians 2:9 “For in Him (Christ) all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form.” Romans 10:9 “If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.”

24 The Nature of God & BOTH ARE DIVINE & BOTH ARE ETERNAL BOTH ARE DIVINE
Christ is as God, who is without beginning or end. John 8: “The Jews therefore said to Him, 'You are not yet fifty years old, and have You seen Abraham?' Jesus said to them, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I Am!'” He describes Himself in the very same manner as God described Himself in Exodus 3:14 as “I AM.” BOTH ARE DIVINE BOTH ARE ETERNAL

25 The Nature of God He is ELOHIM our God and Creator
Do you recognize and praise His greatness? He is EL ELYON the Most High God Do you live under His authority for your life? He is ADONAY the Lord and Master Is He the Lord and Master of your life? He is JEHOVAH RAAH the Shepherd Do you faithfully follow Him wherever He leads?
