It’s not surprising, considering its great importance in the winding-up scenes of the earth’s telestial existence, to find that the prophets, ancient and modern, have spoken at great lengths and in much detail about this final war that will usher in the Millennium

Magog is the area north and east of the Black Sea, now owned by USSR or her satellites.
Meshech is also in Russia.
Tubal is the area around the Black Sea in Georgia and Turkey.
Persia is Iran.
Ethiopia is the southern part of Africa.
Libya is the northern part of Africa.
Gomer is most of modern Europe and parts of Asia Minor, and Togarmah is Asia Minor.
In other words, the whole world will fight against Israel.

26. Great changes to the Earth
DISCUSSION: A great earthquake will strike the earth, affecting the whole world-the greatest earthquake the world has ever known (see Revelation 11:13; 16:18; Ezekiel 38:19-20; Haggai 2:6-7).
Elder McConkie taught: "Three natural changes in the earth-all apparently growing out of one transcendent happening-are here named [Revelation 16:17-21] as attending our Lord's Second Coming.
They are: Earth's land masses shall unite; islands and continents shall become one land.
Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain shall be made low; the rugged terrain of today shall level out into a millennial garden. Such an earthquake as has never been known since man's foot was planted on this planet shall attend these changes in the earth's surface and appearance.

In what form will the Lord "plead" against the army of God? (38:22 - blood, rain, great hailstones, fire and brimstone.)
DISCUSSION: During this battle Christ will place his foot again upon the Mount of Olives and the sacred mount will split in two, providing an avenue of escape for the house of Israel, who then acknowledge Christ as their king, see his nail prints and then be converted in one day.
Then the Lord’s fury upon the army of Gog will consist of other judgments in addition to the great earthquake.
The armies of Gog will turn upon each other and a great rain of fire and hail will shower down upon the army.
John said the hailstones will be the weight of one talent which is about pounds. This could be accomplished by atomic warfare.
A plague will strike the army, causing terrible disease and calamity. Zecharian14:12 states that flesh will be destroyed while they stand— possibly an atomic bomb? The result will be that only 1/6 of the invading army will survive.

The struggle between the forces of good and evil, which is going on in the world today, is really what the future battle of Armageddon will be all about
