On the second slip, write a type of character
Take two slips of paper On the first slip, write a word that could describe a character. Try to describe a characteristic rather than their appearance Examples: brave, evil, valiant, hopeful, sneaky On the second slip, write a type of character Examples: princess, bear, dragon, grade 5 student, wizard

Exposition / Introduction
Write the introduction to the story. Think about describing: The characters The setting (location and time) This is where you set the tone for the rest of the story. It could be: Scary, romantic, dreamy, intense, funny, realistic, fantastical, etc. Do not write the “inciting incident” yet.

Inciting Incident Write the Inciting Incident of the story.
Ask yourself “What could happen to introduce exciting conflict into this story?” This is one of the most dramatic points in the story when everything changes and the real action begins. Try to write it in a suspenseful way.

Do not resolve the conflict yet!
Rising Action Write the next part of the story – the character(s) reacting to the inciting incident Ask yourself “How would the main character feel? What would they do?” Try to maintain the original tone of the introduction Do not resolve the conflict yet!

Climax This is the most exciting part of the story, where the conflict becomes most intense! Put the main character in a situation where they must face the conflict directly Examples: a secret is revealed, an epic fight between good and evil, etc

Falling Action, Resolution, and Conclusion
Write the end of the story. Make sure the main conflict is resolved Tell about what happens to the characters after the climax
