Learning Target and Opening
I am going to show my understanding of how verbals are used in a sentence and build understanding of active and passive voice. Complete the following for the two sentences on the following slide: Write the verbal. Identify the type of verbal. Explain how it is used in the sentence.

Opening Sentences Karla and Brenda love to sing at the top of their lungs in the lunchroom; they know their singing careers will make them some money. Marice moved to New York to study ballet at New York University because dancing on Broadway is his life’s goal.

Task Get an I-Pad. Log onto I-Respond Take the Verbal Assessment:
5-5 is Level 4 4-5 is Level 3 3-5 is Level 2 2-5 is level 1

Task- Leveled Work Level 1 and 2- Complete verbal handout and be prepared to go over in class. Level 3- Create a Verbal Cheat Sheet- Create a bookmark to a half page Cheat Sheet for everyone to use for their ELA Journal. The best one will be used and student will receive a 100 on the verbal assessment for the day. Level 4- MOVE ON!- Take notes with definitions and examples on Active and Passive Voice. After you have taken notes, create practice sentences for the class. Type your sentences and send them to Mr. Brown.
